Monahans district to raise taxes by nearly 12 percent
The MWPISD board approved an 11.94 percent tax increase as part of the proposed 1981 82 budget rising to 10 706 743 from 8 525 619. Changes include 15 000 more for property insurance and 1 100 in state driver education funds. The budget reflects higher salaries for most staff and a 25 percent raise for tax assessor collector LaBoyce Wylie, with several staff moves and resignations noted. A public hearing on July 23 will set the final rate, likely about 74 cents per 100 valuation under SB621.
