Chamber Secretary Nell Forga seeks housing for new arrivals in West Texas and Monahans. People moving in need homes to buy or rent, with all types of housing welcome. Call Mrs. Forga at 943-2187 to list properties.

Longtime Monahans resident Dr. Fred Prout marked a birthday yesterday with well wishes for many more to come from friends and neighbors.
The Soil Conservation Service recorded only .01 inch of precipitation in the city after dense fog and mist moved in before dawn. The light moisture was noted amid a heavy fog blanket, with further details on page 2.
Representatives of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals will visit Monahans Friday to conduct a biannual inspection of Ward Memorial. Hospital administrator Bob Hill says the current two year accreditation will expire next month and the rating will remain in effect until JCAH releases its findings within about two months.
1975 4-H Stockshow Downtown Exposition Parade led by Ray Todd and Bob Boling aims to be the largest kick off in years with energy as theme. About 30 float entries expected for February 24 at 5 p.m. from Hill Park, plus many individual entries and riding clubs from Ward County. Monahans bands and High School Pep Squad invited. Grandfalls High School Band invited with hopes for uniforms. Awards in Youth Civic Commercial Open with first place trophies and rosettes to fourth. Ward County commissioners named the Desert Sands Garden Club a study group to review landscaping for the courthouse and Community Center lawns. A group of club members attended Monday's meeting to discuss possible designs and improvements.
The First National Bank held its stockholder meeting in the National Room with re election of all officers and directors. Harold Cox as president, Paul Corby as vice president, Rex L. Baker cashier, and others were confirmed along with directors J F Frost and several incumbents. The gathering noted a strong 1974 year and optimism for 1975 while plans emerged for courthouse lawn landscaping and county office improvements.
City officials told the Chamber of Commerce to prepare a proposed budget for Hotel Motel Room Occupancy Tax disbursements with expected annual revenue of 4 000 to 5 000, down from 45 000. The disbursement policy was tabled pending budget. The council renewed a 2 500 contract with Pritchard and Abbott for oil and utility tax rolls and discussed a Crime Prevention School in San Marcos funded by the Criminal Justice Council. A Texas Municipal League meeting in Pecos was noted for April.
Josephine Russell of 505 S Dwight urged the council to affirm Monahans as a prime place to retire and live. She sought a fire zone change and the council approved the request in the 100 block of S Franklin to allow a mobile home relocation.
Twenty two Ward County 4 H members travel to the Southwestern International Livestock Show in El Paso to compete in judging and events. Lewis Farnum and Barbara Winkler depart Wednesday February 5 to contest livestock judging while twenty others head out tomorrow, including David Wilson Paul Cooper Jim Harrison Dan Harkey Danny Bivins Len Boling Robin Woods Bridget Buchanan Tavia Gage Robbie Corbell Kathy Lambert and more.
