Antique Autos Displayed at Sandhills Museum Show

Miss Adele Hunt, former home economics teacher and world traveler, conducts Furr's free Cooking School at the Texan Theatre from 1 30 to 3 30 p m daily through Friday. The class in Monahans last year was highly successful and will stress budget type easy meals with recipes for salads dressings no cook dishes and pies. Groceries and trade stamps are given away daily and Friday a new electric range is presented to a winner.

Bering Co refuses a $1,266.10 final payment for the Monahans water project saying a mislocated foundation caused delays and that an 18 day penalty is unfair. J C Wynne notes a six day penalty at $50 daily would be fair. City officials consider the issue at the regular council meeting as advised by City Manager Morris Howard.

Carey Wilson of Pyote showed a middle weight Hereford steer placing 11th and selling to Texas Electric Service Co. for 56 cents a pound. The 868 pound steer sold. Tom Parker of Wickett placed 17th with a 912 pound steer selling to Farrs of Odessa for 55 cents a pound. Former inmate caught burglarizing Loyd's Pontiac
Arthur Sandifer, 28, a former Arizona State Penitentiary inmate, was nabbed in the act of breaking into Loyd's Pontiac after city police blocked exits. He admitted the burglary in a statement to County Attorney Howze and awaits burglary charges. Sandifer is jailed in Ward County. He denies ties to prior Monahans burglaries and offers a polygraph. He worked at Loyd's about a week two months ago. Police say entry came after a window smash and unlatched lock.
