The Boys' Club aims for all boys with 50 cent dues, inviting donations to reach over 7,000 dollars as Community Concert membership drive begins.
The 25th annual Ward County 4-H Livestock Show runs March 5–7 with a parade at 4 30 p m Wednesday March 4. The event features multiple shows and an 81-animal auction, 116 exhibitors, and extensive facilities at the County fairgrounds.
Law enforcement officials and youth leaders back a Boys Club in Monahans Ward County to provide supervised activities. Band concert tickets sold by Monahans High School students or the school office support bus trips to Corpus Christi. Meetings at noon at the Country Club will brief Chamber chairmen on program duties and collaboration.
Charles C. Oliver enters Grandfalls Royalty race and Charles F. Clark files for Pyote. Three seats at Grandfalls Royalty and two at Pyote. Other filings include Billy G. Welch Kenneth F. Devies for Grandfalls Royalty and Donald R. Price for Pyote. Deadline March 4.
At mid afternoon Wednesday only 11 Ward Countains had registered for the free vote in national elections. Tax Collector Arthur Bowman reports the deadline is March 6.
Monahans City Council accepted an annexation application from Howard Samuels Jr. for a 6 acre tract west of the old disposal plant to support a $300,000 60 unit motel south of Interstate 20. The council set March 23 as the annexation date and discussed water sewer service for the project and related legal matters including a city suit filed by William Bean.
Two additional candidates join seven nominees for the April 4 school board election. Filing deadline is March 4. The field now includes John H. Edwards III and John Bristow along with incumbents Ross Rucker Gerald Watson W L McPeak R E Gene Dawson and L B Tuck Jolley. Dr Paul Kunstadt has not declared.
A playoff to decide the District 88 B girls basketball title will be held Friday at 8 PM in Monahans High School gym between Grandfalls and Barstow. Both teams finished regular season 4-1. The winner advances to bi district to meet Sands.
Monahans City Council will accept bids until 2 p.m. March 23 for two police cars and or one two wheel motorcycle and one three wheel motorcycle.
All public schools in Texas mark Public School Week from March 26 with open houses on Monday evening from 7 to 9. Parents and citizens are urged to visit the schools to see special exhibits and student academic work.
Six candidates are entered for city council posts after Monk Yates and incumbents Ken Welch and Jim Williams filed earlier. Wallace L. Neal joined the race on Wednesday afternoon. Filing deadline is March 7 with applications due to City Secretary Mrs. Marge Wilson at the new Administration Building on West Second Street.
Funeral services are pending at Barnes Funeral Home for Richard White of Pycte. He died about 6 30 this morning in Ward Memorial Hospital. He was 62. Among the survivors is one sister Mrs Caliche Walley of Pycte.
Community Concert Week in Monahans launches a membership drive led by Bill Whitfield president of the Monahans Community Concert Association. The plan calls for renewal and new memberships for a 1964-65 season at the Monahans High School Auditorium with access to at least three concerts. Membership costs seven dollars fifty cents for adults and three dollars fifty cents for students, with cards valid in Midland and Hobbs New Mexico. The drive runs through 6 pm Saturday with headquarters at the First National Bank Annex Building and a campaign phone WI 3 374.
