City Council agenda Tuesday includes open bids for a new water well and tie-ins, continued airport partnership talks, action on hazardous city buildings, a proposed Monahans Loop Road construction changes agreement with state and county officials, auditor appointment, and City Manager reports.
Citizens and taxpayers of the Monahans Wickett Pyote district are invited to a 7 30 p m public meeting at the Administration Building 606 S Betty to discuss proposed new construction and upgrading of facilities. Attendees are urged to participate in the discussion.
District Court opens at nine with three civil cases ready for trial. Lead case features Jim Davis versus Commercial Standard Insurance in a compensation suit. Second case has Charles Arthur versus Houston Fire in a compensation action. Third case is a damage suit Jes sie Rapier and others versus George Flores and others.
District Judge J H Starley is to decide this week on seven issues raised by local taxpayers challenging salary hikes for County Commissioners. The cases allege improper notice, budget overages, self raises, and secret sessions, with a motion for a salary increase and a public budget amendment questioned. Continued on Page 2.
Norris Hertzog, 29, joins Ward Memorial Hospital in Muscatine Iowa as an anesthetist. A Riverside Missouri high school graduate from 1960, he trained at St Josephs Hospital School of Anesthesia Omaha and served as Army staff anesthetist at Brook Army Hospital San Antonio and instructor in Korea. He later worked at Mercy Hospital Iowa City before moving to Muscatine in 1969.
Newcomers named David Glass and James Cook join residents at 700 S and 1509 S respectively. Other entrants include Carolyn James, Betty Av, Dan Poston at 209 W 4th St, Nell Larry Knotwell 604 S, Dwight Cindy, Norris Hertzog 300 Ari zona, Patricia Salvador Holguin 6th & Alpine, and Helen.
Filings list Johnny Jordan and Dr. C S Patterson for council and trustees. Jordan, 34, cashier at First State Bank, lives with Linda and two children at 1209 North Doris. Patterson, Ward Memorial Hospital medical staff, lives with Bobbye and Scott at 905 S Murray. Earlier filings include Chuck Wilson for council, L B Jolley and Carolyn Parks for school board, and Bob Boling for trustee seats. March 4 is school board deadline and March 7 for council races. Four city seats will be filled.
Eighteen single family dwellings in Kermit are offered for sale on a bid basis by the Federal Housing Administration. Properties must be moved out of Kermit and bid in one lump with a minimum offer of 54900. The Texas Lions Club Crippled Children's Camp in Kerrville offers free two week sessions each summer for 7 to 12 year old children who are crippled, blind, deaf or mute. Camping runs from June 7 to August 15 and local Lions Club members can provide details.
Industrial Engineering Professor Robert Shapiro of the University of Oklahoma is guest speaker at the Trans Pecos Section dinner meeting of the Society of Petroleum Engineers of AIME at Monahans Country Club. Social hour begins at 6 30 p m with dinner at 7 30 p m. His lecture is Statistical Decision Theory The Calculus of Management Science. Shapiro joined OU in 1964 after eight years with Shell Oil Company.
Rain snow and sleet Friday and Saturday yielded 0.38 inch moisture. The light precipitation helped clear air stirred by Tuesday night winds.
