Six indictments were returned by the Ward County Grand Jury after a morning session. Defendants named include Omero Hernandez for credit card abuse Curtis Hudson for burglary Daniel Wayne Dean for forgery by passing Bill David Cobb for possession of marijuana Leroy Tarwater for incest and Leonard Bryant Blackmon for attempted murder. Bonds ranged from 1 000 to 5 000 dollars.

Monahans High School choral department hosts an all day clinic with Bill Cormack Midland district fine arts coordinator as clinician. The A Cappella and Mixed Choirs rehearse for contests on March 10 11 at Odessa College focusing on sight reading and related events.
Tickets remain on sale for the February 27 4-H Ranch Breakfast at the Monahans Community Center from 6 to 8 am. Adults pay 2 and children 1, with meals featuring steak biscuits gravy honey and coffee or milk. Proceeds fund Ward County 4-H activities including club animals trips and show costs.
Ward County towns report sparse candidate interest for April 3 city council and school board races. Monahans incumbents reseek Places 3 and 4. Place 5 open. Wickett and Grandfalls show no filings. Pyote and Thorntonville lack notices. Barstow votes for mayor and one council seat. New state law moves city elections to first Saturday in April.
The February Senior Citizen Luncheon takes place Monday February 23 at noon at the senior center. Ken Mills MHS choral director will present with the A Cappella ensemble performing. Billie McNerlin will give the devotional. First National Bank provides the meal. The Valentine King and Queen will be crowned. Transportation calls to 943 2608 before 10 am.
The Monahans Band Booster hosts a pancake supper and concert tomorrow night at 6. Proceeds support the band program and uniforms. Local residents and supporters are invited to attend and enjoy performances by the student musicians.
Barstow voters will elect a mayor among others with Abram Flores currently in the mayoral spot and a new city secretary. Absentee voting runs March 15 to 30 at the Irrigation Office, and election day voting at the County Coliseum. A pancake breakfast fundraiser with local cooks and school bands supports booster club trips and activities, featuring a bake sale and entertainment.
