The Monahans Trade and Commerce Association reports 30 550 redemption books filled with Monahans Trade Stamps totaling 61 100 in redeemable merchandise. About 70 000 has circulated locally, benefiting the community. Funds fund furniture and year round AC for the new Chamber building and may support Christmas decorations. 1959 officers were re elected by acclamation.

Monahans High School students will vote after speeches in an assembly Friday morning for Student Council officers including a president two vice presidents a recording secretary a corresponding secretary and treasurer. Former S Hills Director Paints 47-Foot Texas Park Regions Mural

Mother of Bob Larson Dies After Stroke
Mrs. John P. Larson mother of Robert G. Larson former director of Monahans Sandhills State Park died Sunday night about 12 days after a severe stroke. She and her husband stayed with the Larsons in Monahans for two seasons and became ill during her second visit.

Rites Set Today For Ben Mitchell Grandfalls Pioneer
Funeral services for Ben Mitchell 66 of Grandfalls are at 2 30 p m at First Baptist Church Grandfalls with interment in Monahans cemetery. He died after a 10 30 a m collapse at Grandfalls Royalty school campus and was transported by Barnes Funeral Home ambulance from the campus. Mitchell a longtime custodian at the school since 1951, born in Bastrop County in 1893, lived in Ward County most of his life and was Past Master of Masonic Lodge 895. Survivors include wife son Gordon Mitchell San Antonio two sisters Lena Allsup Odessa and D L Crowley Clute one daughter Kathleen White Snyder one brother J A Mitchell Grandfalls and eight grandchildren.

Weather permitting, concrete island work starts today in front of the post office to install drive by mail boxes as permanent fixtures. Island placed south of current site on Betty Street measures about five by ten feet. A traffic signal was added at 4th and Betty to ease congestion and a double stripe will curb left turns into the post office from the west. Parking spaces will be marked on Betty Street in front of the post office.
