Drowning of Rudy Contreras in Imperial Reservoir near Grandfalls
The body of 19 year old Rudy Contreras was recovered about 2 PM Thursday after a small boat with Manuel Ortega capsized in Imperial Reservoir six miles south of Grandfalls. Ortega swam ashore and was treated. Contreras had been missing since the mishap as his wife and daughter waited nearby. Funeral services were held at the Catholic Church in Monahans with burial in Monahans Cemetery.

Wickett Council Sets April 5 Election For Three Seats
Wickett City Council called an April 5 election to name three councilmen as terms of J. C. Howorth R. S. Mitchell and Bill Garrard expire. Candidates may file at the city office. The Feb 10 meeting also approved more school area stop signs and a $20 fine for offenders. The council will act on unsafe and unsightly properties by letters and possible enforcement if deadlines aren’t met.

Stock Show Parade Plans Forming
Plans for a 1969 Youth and Its Resources Exposition Parade on March 5 in connection with the Ward County Livestock Show are underway. The FCC approved the sale of KVKM TV Monahans to Grayson Enterprises for about 530000. Grayson owns stations in Lubbock Big Spring and Sweetwater and will satellite the Big Spring station from Monahans. The transfer targets March 1 with Jerry Wright moving to Tri Cities Broadcasters. Burn Victim In Serious Condition
Four year old Ernie Whitlow remains in serious condition at Ward Memorial Hospital after severe burns to fifty percent of his lower body. He was injured when his clothes caught fire from a trash fire at his home south of Mona last Tuesday afternoon. His parents Luther and Mrs Whitlow declined blood transfusions for religious reasons. Hospital says a new armed forces developed ointment is being used in treatment.
