David B. Walker, BP Alaska Inc. vice president, will speak at the Trans-Pecos SPE meeting in Monahans at 6:30 p.m. on February. His lecture titled Development of the Prudhoe Bay Oil Field covers discovery, North Slope environment, remote-area operations, development plans and drilling costs. He began with BP in 1959 after graduating from the University of Sydney.
The Special Services Department of Monahans schools holds an open house today from 3 to 5 p.m. at the new 402 West Sixth Street facility. The Plan A program, started in 1973 by Sid and Ruth Whitlock, now includes VAC classes and aDesigned site with offices, an Early Childhood Center, a materials room, two classrooms with labs, and a playground for motor development. Mrs. Whitlock, Plan A diagnostician, authored the VAC curriculum and will speak at the Texas State Teachers Association meeting in San Antonio.
Superintendent George C Callender announced that Clint and Seagraves High Schools will play Bi District basketball at 7 30 p m February 22 in Monahans High School Gym. Admission 2 00 for adults 1 00 for students. Clint is District 5 A champion and Seagraves the 6 A crown.
A crowded Ward County Commission agenda for Monday at 9 a.m. at the courthouse includes bids for a County Depository for 1977 78 and for a new pickup for Precinct 3. Items also cover divestiture, a county history project by the Historical Committee, a hospital board proposal on a radio, and approval of an Adult Probation Officer appointment.
Gerry Cave and Warren Sanders were chosen as February Rotary Club guests under the youth project. Two seniors are selected each month for weekly luncheons with a future scholarship awarded at year end. Jess Coker of Southwest Airlines spoke on Midland Odessa market openings and airline services.
Plans for a Saturday February 19 band concert and pancake supper at the Ward County Coliseum from 6 to 8 30 p m. All bands will perform while Band Boosters prepare pancakes. Tickets cost 1 for students and 1 50 for adults.
Senior 4 H club members are slated to meet Monday night February 14 at 7 30 in the Monahans Community Center. Dr Bryan Stuckey will present the program and members will discuss the Livestock Show parade and related plans, with details continued on page 2.
