Convention Concert Set Friday In San Antonio
The Big Green Band travels from Monahans to San Antonio to perform as the Texas AAA Honor Band at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention. One of two times holding this honor, the 119 member group will play the same program as last Sunday featuring America The Beautiful and Russian Christmas Music. Directors include Dan Gibbs and Ronnie Smith with Vaughn and Wilson assisting. a sizable contingent of parents and several School Board members plan to attend.

Tickets go on sale for the 4-H Breakfast February 27 at the Monahans Community Center from 6 to 8 am. Adults by 4-H members or at the door, $2. kids $1. Prizes Offered For 4 H Parade This Year
The Spirit of Tomorrow theme launches the Ward County Livestock Show 4 H Exposition Parade. Open and Club divisions join Youth entrants with cash prizes of 50 25 and 10 for top places plus a 100 sweepstakes prize. Bands from Monahans High and Grandfalls Royalty High School invited to march. Parade on Monday March 1 at 5 PM in downtown Monahans.

Southern Union Seeks Higher Gas Rates From Railroad Commission
Southern Union Gas told the City Council and six other cities it would appeal to the railroad commission to restore a 17 percent rate increase, with a cost of gas adjustment approved if books are opened. The council urged joint action and warned the cost of service clause could invite further hikes. Also, an Andrews woman sued Monahans for 100000, which the council rejected.

Scout Expo Tickets Selling for Sandhills District Event
The Scout Exposition will be held at the Kermit Community Center on March 20. Local Cub Scouts Scouts and Explorers of the Buffalo Trail Council are selling tickets in uniform. Each participating unit earns a 40 percent commission for its Unit Fund. The Sandhills District covers Winkler Ward Reeves and Culberson counties.

L E Bivins announced his candidacy for Commissioner of Precinct 3 in the upcoming May 1 Democratic Primary. The Monahansa City Council designated Saturday, April 3, 1976, as election day. Polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Seats 3 4 and 5 are up for election held by Violet Potts Norbon Sikes and Robert White. Filing closes March 3. Absentee voting will begin.
