Girl Caught Attempting Break-In by 13-Year-Old
A 13-year-old Monahans girl tried to break into a house at 1505 South Allen Friday around 6 p.m. She admitted the incident to Ward County authorities and is in parental custody. The case will be handled by juvenile officials. The homeowner Mrs. Lyle Saunders saw a girl run to the back of the house and then saw her cutting a hole in the back screen door with a knife to unlatch it. The girl and Mrs. Saunders scuffled. the intruder broke loose and fled before officers located her.

Teenage Baseball Expands To Teens Aged Thirteen To Eighteen

Bond Set for Suspect in Local Burglary
21-year-old Richard Cooper of Carlsbad now living in Monahans was charged with breaking and entering over last week's attempted burglary of Lyles Sporting Goods. Bond set at 2000 as Cooper was found in the back room when owner Lyle Saunders arrived to check the store. Saunders reportedly drew a gun and Cooper was armed. Three other alleged accomplices were released on own recognizance.

Two Dyches Brothers Charged With Cafe Burglaries
Joe D. Dyches 27 and Van F. Dyches 22 from Washington State were jailed on burglary charges after allegedly breaking into Lee's Cafe Pyote and later attempting to raid Monahans Truck Terminal on U S Route 80. Night Watchman Clarence Henderson spotted their car. officers recovered stolen cigarettes and cigars and linked them to both sites.

George I. Young Rites Held at First Baptist Church
Funeral services for George I. Young 57 long time Monahans resident were held at First Baptist Church on Saturday. He died of a heart attack Thursday night at his Wink home. Born September 20 1904 in Duluth Minnesota he worked as a bookkeeper for Skelly Oil in Monahans. Interment followed in Monahans Cemetery. Survivors include wife Helen of Wink daughter Constance Ann two stepchildren James Cook and Barbara Ann Cook and brother Arthur Young of Seattle.

Boy Treated After Two-Vehicle Collision
