The Permian Basin Regional Planning Committee will discuss a $250000 pre-application for Grandfalls at its Wednesday board meeting at the Air Terminal. Grandfalls seeks $63000 for housing rehab, $137000 for water distribution repair, and $50000 for gas system repair under the Community Development Block Grant program.

Important Retail Trade Committee Meeting Announced

The Retail Trade Committee will meet Tuesday morning at 10:00 at the Chamber of Commerce in Monahans. G falls Hosts Defensive Driving Course

A defensive driving course will be held in Grandfalls at the Reddy Room of Texas Electric Service Company. Evening classes run 6 30 to 10 30 with a day class Tuesday 9 to noon and 1 to 5 pm taught by Mrs Cozette Yates Mrs Mildred Rose and James Springer.

Emergency Training Course Begins Monday

A first in a series of emergency medical training courses will start Monday at 7 p.m. in Ward Memorial Hospital dining room. Sponsored by the Permian Commission and Odessa College, Dr. Graham Palmer leads the sessions aimed at Volunteer Fire Department Police Department and ambulance attendants and open to all interested. Participants will learn basic first aid procedures for situations until a doctor arrives.

Council Plans Close Look At Leash Law

City Council will hear a leash law discussion at 2 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall and will review methods to improve the animal control ordinance despite several years in effect. Also on the agenda are motorcycle activity at the old caliche pits near 15th street, water service outside city limits, Building Code amendments, and a budget amendment. Visitors may speak after agenda items.

Juarez Receives 50-Year Sentence In Heroin Case

Teresa Tito Juarez 43 of Barstow was found guilty of Delivery of a Controlled Substance Heroin and sentenced to 50 years in the state department of corrections. Trial in 143rd District Court with Judge Charles Sherrill presiding lasted two and a half hours for the verdict and six hours for sentencing deliberations.

Physical Therapy Contract Before WMH Board

Ward Memorial Hospital trustees meet Wednesday to review a physical therapy contract and a report on emergency room coverage. Dr. Graham Palmer will present a proposal on radio communications with emergency vehicles along with Medicare recommendations, collections policy changes, and ER coverage progress.
