In a Monday January 29 special election at City Hall Monahans News editor W H Guy won the unexpired alderman term of W L Goodwin who moved to Addis La. Guy received 45 votes with H M Bodenhoff 38 and minor write ins. Election judges were N E Fielding Fred Agee and H F Wurtz. The April term ends for Goodwin Theo Andrews and G H Rhodes, with another election for three positions.
The Monahans Lions club met with fifteen members and Miss Kat Gibson present. They voted to donate 50 from the earnings of the Lions Negro Minstrel to Stewart Winkler the football captain injured in the Monahans Lovington game and confined to Dallas hospital and home since returning. The group discussed finishing the tennis court with a concrete top and securing funds to complete it soon.
The Monahans High School junior class presents an eight act vaudeville show at Pen Ell Theatre on February 9 and 10 featuring skits comedy and drama with a first class orchestra. The program also includes the action film Police Car 17 starring Tim McCoy and Evelyn Knapp. A small admission will be charged and full details will appear next week.
Mrs Buster Bailey and her daughter left Tuesday morning to join Mr Bailey in their new home in Hobbs.

The Worker's Conference of the Pecos Valley Association will meet at the Monahans Baptist church next Tuesday February 6 at 10 a m It is expected that at least 150 people will register if weather is favorable The program is arranged and all Baptists are urged to attend The meeting runs from 10 a m to 3 p m.
George R. Bentley, 30, oil operator and Ward County resident, announces candidacy for County Commissioner of Precinct No. 3 subject to Democratic primaries. A native Texan, he has lived in Ward County five years, owns a Grandfalls home, and pledges untiring effort to serve the county if elected.

Speculative cattle trading revived in Alpine as 500 Kokernot calves weighing 485 pounds were shipped to western points after three buyers. Julius Wolf of Denver reportedly paid between 4 1/2 and 3 3/4 cents per pound for the cattle.
