Ex-Marine Wein. two wars shape Tyler College coach
David C. Wein, a phy sical education major at Tyler Junior College, served in Guam China Formosa Vietnam Thailand the Philippines Korea Okinawa and Japan. A Monahans native, he joined the Marines in 1947, fought in Korea and Vietnam, earned a California high school diploma in 1964, and later pursued college work before deciding to complete a degree at TJC. He reflects on Asian life from Thailand’s rivers to Japan’s rapid change, noting economic limits, education hunger among Koreans, and friendliness of the people.
