One Percent Sales Tax Increase Holds Steady
Texas cities will end 1978 with more than 424.8 million from the local option one percent sales tax, 17.5 percent above 1977. Bullock announced December allocations totaling 74.9 million in rebates to about 900 cities, boosting the yearly total by 63.2 million. Monahans received 44,663, lifting its year total to 285,604, with Alpine Andrews Balmorhea Big Spring Crane Fort Stockton Goldthwaite Kermit Pecos among others also posting gains.
