Proceeds go to a Pecos Rotary Christmas charity fund with a minstrel start and a 10 act vaudeville finish. Local citizens participate and State Senator K M Regan serves as interlocutor.
Ted Johnson, a graduate of A & M College, has been hired as County agent for Ward and Reeves Counties. He will divide his time between Grandfalls on Tuesdays and Barstow on Wednesdays to help farmers with agricultural problems. The commissioners and the News applaud this progressive move.
Odessa News-Times editor Ralph Shuffler, after nearly two weeks in a Big Spring hospital for an acute stomach illness, was discharged and sent home Friday afternoon. His son Ralph Shuffler Jr. accompanied him.
In a joint city council and fire department meeting at city hall, Bill Goodwin was elected fire chief, Ray Keenan fire marshal, and W T Powell secretary. Aiming to boost efficiency, a second meeting will name volunteer firefighters and set weekly practice dates for improvements.
Eighteen years of rail progress marked by the Sunshine Special anniversary celebration hosted by the Fort Worth and Dallas Chamber of Commerce. The Sun shine Special debuted December 5 on its maiden run to northern and eastern points, cutting travel time from Dallas and Fort Worth to St Louis and Memphis by over six hours. Transportation advances included westward connections to El Paso California and Mexico and links to New Orleans Rio Grande Valley and Mexico.

Wyatt Lockaby of the Tourist cafe receipts a Monahans citizen aims to ease local housing shortfall by purchasing a house and lot in the north part of town and moving cottages from Ker mit onto Henry Simpson property. He plans 2 and 3 room modern rental units to meet demand with five families seeking homes last week. If twenty five new rent houses could be finished this week they would likely be rented by next Monday.
The Ward County Farm Debt Conciliation Committee was organized at Grandfalls on Tuesday December 12. O N Rogers was named chairman Jack Wright vice chairman and T M White secretary with Judge E W Sweatt and Pat Avery on the panel. The group will assist debtors and creditors in seeking fair readjustments to avoid foreclosures and plans a first meeting in January. Citizens are invited to attend and monitor the committee’s work.
Ninety one attended Sunday School last Sunday at 9 45. Seventy eight contributed a total offering of 32 dollars. Fifty one of the attendees brought their Bibles to classes.

Scheduled pictures include Three Cornered Moon, Im No Angel, Duck Soup, The Torch Singer, Lady for a Day, Too Much Harmony.
The Monahans landmark ranch home of Joe T. Ragsdale burned last Friday at 8 30 am. Built in 1894 by G W Woods it changed hands several times and housed social and church events. Ragsdale and Mrs. Ragsdale were noted for hospitality and community service.
Rev. Ira Harrison pastor of the First Baptist church traveled to Dallas Monday night for the Executive Board meeting of the Baptist Convention of Texas and is expected to return Thursday.
