Man Dies In Monahans Jail By Hanging
Norman Douglas Moore, 26, died in Monahans city jail early Saturday from what officials ruled as strangulation by hanging. He had been booked at 10 p.m. Friday for public intoxication and disorderly conduct and was found hanging from the cell door by his belt after an officer checked him at midnight. An autopsy confirmed strangulation. alcohol was present in the system. The incident prompted an investigation by Texas Ranger Joe Coleman.

Midland Texas State Guard to hold spring training exercise
The 403d Military Police Battalion of the Texas State Guard will conduct a five hour spring training exercise in Midland on Sunday April 29 from 1 to 5 p.m. The exercise site on Wadley Avenue near the Armory will test crowd and traffic control search and rescue first aid evacuation and emergency communications as Midland officials plan to rely on state guards in a disaster scenario. LTC Thomas Simpson commands the 403d with Lt Rodgers and Capt Adair among staff. observers from State Guard headquarters will monitor.

Five year olds turning five by September 1 and enrolling in kindergarten are invited to pre-school parties at Gensler and George L Callender Kindergarten. Gensler party is 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday May 3.
