Highwaymen on Moline road captured after outrage
Four intoxicated men attacked travelers on the Moline road above the old brewery. A posse including Coroner Morris, Marshal Fish, and several officers seized the suspects, two of whom were discharged for lack of evidence while the other two, Francis Marple and Wayne Ferguson, faced seven counts each with bail set at 7000 dollars.

Henry of Hampton fled after the attempt. banker Hemenway and Marshal Fish pursued him to Waterman, where Henry was captured at Crawford's store. He faced a $70 bond for trial. later reports say he previously stole checks from Einfeldt’s book and may face penitentiary time.
