Narrow Guage Rail Road Coal Service For Moline
The Narrow Gauge Rail Road runs five trains daily with about six cars each totaling 30 cars per day. Coal cars cross the Rock River bridge by mule power, each trip pulling one car. Each car carries roughly three tons, delivering around 100 tons daily to Moline. A south side engine has reportedly operated outside the gate on Robert Grego’s farm along the highway track, sparking a possible interference with country teams, and local authorities may act to resolve. The line has proven highly useful for Moline’s coal needs in the cold winter, and there is hope for extension to increase service.
