The Hillyer Case and Mrs Buckley’s Vindication
Hillyer recounts his night trek to Lynn Hambright’s house to seek forgiveness and explain his past crimes. Mrs. Hambright dispels blame by teaching George Buckley that God forgives a repentant man and that Lynn’s mother helps reveal the truth about the father’s illness and the community’s support. The Buckleys discuss public vindication, a legal exoneration, and the moral weight of suffering and forgiveness as the town awaits further developments.
