Crowds of about ten thousand converge on Music Hall and the jail as Berner is sent to prison for twenty years. The mob attacks the jail, fights militia, and fires the building while police and troops clash with gunfire and banners of vengeance. Casualties mount as the chaos spreads through Cincinnati.
