Port Byron notices and business changes listed

Port Byron reports M A Denlinger sold grocery and coal business to J Shepherd & Son, with Merrit & Wainwright undertakers dissolving into Henny Merrit. Christmas plans include church events, a Santa visit, a tree for Mik Church, and a ball at Mucler's Hall. A coal train collision in fog injures a brakeman but no serious harm.

Texans Welcome Illinois Wisconsin Iowa Visitors From Railroads Tour

A large party of excursionists from Illinois Wisconsin and Iowa arrived in Galveston by special train and toured the capitol area. They were greeted by locals at the Avenue Hotel and later visited the Alamo monument and Mt Bonnell. Governor Hubbard and Judge Ferrell welcomed them with a patriotic address. The group, composed of businessmen and press representatives, enjoyed a royal lunch at Selder's spring and toured the city, expressing warm regard for Austin and Texas hospitality. The party will spend today in Austin before returning home with good wishes.
