W H Wallace a negro sleeping car porter was lynched at eight o'clock Tuesday night by a mob of about 4000 in La Junta Colorado after being hunted all day. His body was riddled with bullets. Sheriff Farr had kept him out of town to save him from the mob.

Disaster at Clay Bank claims six workers in Cleveland
Cleveland Gas Light and Coke plant collapsed a clay earth bank on Tuesday afternoon causing six deaths and one serious injury. Woman Overcomes Assault Identifies Suspect at Station

James Brown Mormon Patriarch Dies in Salt Lake City
James Brown, aged 73, a member of the Seventies and patriarch of the Mormon church, died at his Salt Lake City home Tuesday. He accompanied WT h W Marshall at the first California gold discovery in January 1848 and left 21 children and 126 grandchildren.
