Remains of J F Swisher Laid to Rest

Funeral held from the home at twenty first street and Sixth avenue Thursday afternoon with Rev J W Edwards of First Methodist church officiating. A quartet sang several selections. pallbearers included John Dewrose N R Ziegler John Brumbaugh Byron Avery Charles Huot and Mr Willis. Interment followed at Riverview cemetery. The Mail is but a dime a week.

Young burglar Johnson convicted in Rock Island case

The Argus report notes Thomas Johnson, arrested after a $50 reward, confessed under pressure claimed to be from the mayor. He says the mayor promised lenient handling and about thirty days in county jail, but he was found guilty this afternoon in a Rock Island burglary spree case.

Tremblay Brothers Buy Property Office Plans Reported

Dr J J Tremblay bought the Jones property at 1414 Fourth avenue for 10000 through Donahoo & Sheppard, likely to convert upper rooms to offices while an Downtown office remains. His brother Dr Fred Tremblay joins to form a partnership after arriving in the city. Andrew J Lyon purchased a farm near Illinois City for 9600 from Donahoo & Sheppard and will take possession next spring.

West End Club Seeks Charter and Growth

Members of the West End club vote to incorporate and secure a charter with Mayor Olson's aid. The group will establish athletic teams for summer ball and winter football and basketball, plus a reading room with current periodicals for local and visiting young men. Membership stands at ninety with twenty five new members.

Last night 300 was subscribed to the organization and members spoke of its strong financial health. John Day L Z Emery and Frank Haynes urged membership while initiation stood at 20 dollars and quarterly dues at 60 cents. The next meeting is Thursday evening.

Fever Claims Another Victim in Local Outbreak

Pearlet fever claimed Hilga Eve Inn o, 10, daughter of Mr and Mrs A Carlson, at 4:40 pm today. Born March 18 1907 in the city, she leaves three sisters and two brothers. Funeral at home Saturday afternoon with Rev Hoffsten officiating. Mrs Joste Ingels died at the county infirmary after long illness. born January 28 1977 in Augusta, Indiana, with remains to be shipped to Talley Grove for interment.

Anderson Family Quarantined. Five Children Ill

Mr and Mrs Emil Anderson of East Moline report their home at Seventh Street and Third Avenue in quarantine due to scarlet fever in five children and diphtheria complications in two younger ones. The father asks friends for assistance as he is nearly helpless and the family seeks support.

Strike vote expected as rail road managers offer arbitration

Rail road managers proposed arbitration Thursday to avert a general strike if trainmen reject the wage offer. Officials avoided committing on acceptance, but insiders say a large majority will back a strike.
