The Cuban Republic must now govern itself with industry frugality and righteousness. U S occupation left Cuba healthier and better administered with sanitation ports and harbors modernized a free school system established and justice institutions rebuilt. General Wood and associates aided the transition, while lingering disputes threaten future legal battles over packers and price fixing under Sherman act provisions.
