Meteor Yacht Launch Aboard German Emperor’s Vessel
In a drizzly New York ceremony on Shooter's Island the German emperor's schooner yacht Meteor was launched with Miss Alice Roosevelt christening the ship with German champagne. President Roosevelt, Mrs Roosevelt, Prince Henry, and a large delegation attended amid cheers and naval salutes. A joint cablegram to the Kaiser followed, and Miss Roosevelt received a diamond portrait bracelet from Prince Henry. The Roosevelt party then departed for Washington.
