Junior College Tuition Stirs Will County Schools
The dispute over junior college tuition in Will County remains unresolved. Lincoln Way High School officials report 124 students signed up for Junior College before July 1, with some enrolling at Bloom Junior College. A compromise allows those who applied by July 1 and whose parents agreed to pay to register, while Joliet Junior College will accept unregistered students if full tuition is paid at enrollment. The issue hinges on whether Joliet Junior College is under the Junior College Act, with legal opinions alternating between exclusion and inclusion. Joliet hopes to become Class I through a fall referendum, which could fix funding and who pays.
