Arthur Mackay of 417 Henderson Ave Joliet and Lincoln Way High School staff has been chosen to chair the English department for the new school year. The post follows Al Dalkowski's resignation to return to Indiana. Thomas Flanigan, sophomore wrestling coach and math teacher, will coach varsity wrestling, replacing Ronald Larsen who moved to Bloom Two High. Flanigan’s 1961-1962 sophomore team posted a 16-1 record.

Girl Killed When Auto Overturns on U S 45 Near Mokena
Violet Reynolds a 21 year old resident of Kankakee was killed when the car she drove went out of control on U S 45 near 192nd street two miles east of Mokena. Her brother Robert was treated for minor injuries and released. State troopers cited possible sleepiness as a cause.

Two Teens Arrested After High Speed Stolen Car Chase
State Trooper James Brockman chased two 15 year old New Lenox boys Robert W. Taylor and Thomas C. Morrison in a stolen car. The youths reached 110 mph, ran a stop sign, and were arrested after a pursuit ending with Brockman blocking their path. They were jailed then released to parents. case sent to county juvenile authorities.
