He began in 1923 as a ground man and later became a lineman and overhead foreman at Chicago Central headquarters 5059 W Polk St. He plans hunting fishing and gardening and will travel between Mokena and Arkansas with wife Henre, married 31 years.

Burglars Hit Silver Lake Golf and Tinley VFW Clubs
Burglars struck in the Orland Park and Tinley Park area Sunday night. At Silver Lake Country Club in Orland Park $3,500 in equipment vanished after doors were forced and the safe attempt failed. $40 to $50 was taken from the office. Tinley Park VFW rooms were burglarized with about $800 in cash and merchandise, mainly liquor, stolen. rifles, a 45 caliber pistol, vending machines damaged, and a radio, TV, and movie projector taken. Investigators suspect a lone or slim intruder, possibly a girl, gained entry through an 11 by 1 inch window. Electrical golf carts were used to move loot to waiting vehicles. Police found four green-flag golf markers stolen from Silver Lake. A separate Friday night break-in in Tinley Park involved a 14-year-old who damaged Lake Cook Farm Supply but did not steal. The boy was turned over to juvenile authorities.
