Hooked eyelid during fishing leaves Lincoln man nearly blinded
James Ward, 23, suffered a severe puncture to the left eyelid when a three pronged fish hook snagged him while fishing with Allen Heston, 17, on a trout lake near Plainfield. The hook was removed at Hedges clinic in Frankfort and the eyeball remained unharmed.

Dedication Of Post Office At Mokena On May 13
The Mokena Chamber of Commerce will dedicate the new post office on Saturday May 13 at 2 pm on the building grounds. Frankfort and New Lenox Bands Sweep State Contests
Frankfort and New Lenox bands earned top state ratings at Peoria and LaMoille contests. Frankfort’s 56 piece concert band won first for the third straight year with solo and trio winners Martha Otto Sue Krusemark Sharon Koenig Robert Smith Bruce Patterson Patty Morrison among others. New Lenox band directed by Milton Morris also captured first. 23 of 34 solos and duets earned first ratings. Second place went to multiple soloists and duets. New Lenox concert band numbered 50.
