William G. Wilson 68 Dies During Lenten Service at Frankfort Church
William G. Wilson a retired teacher and district superintendent died Wednesday evening while taking part in a Lenten service at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Frankfort He collapsed after speaking and died en route to the Frankfort Chapel His body later went to Chicago for scientific use He is survived by wife Ruth a son William H and a daughter Jane six grandchildren and a sister He was a World War I veteran and member of Trowel Lodge A F and A M and an American Legion Post in Chicago He was born June 12 1898 in Chicago and taught in Chicago Cook County schools for 45 years

Five Seek Two Board Posts At Lincoln Way
Five candidates compete for two Lincoln-Way High School Board seats in the April 8 election. Incumbents Geroge L. Preston and Dr. L. M. Webb of New Lenox vie against William Schwab also of New Lenox, Joliet West teacher, and Carl P. Schonwise of 119 Maray Ave. Durward Fant of Mokena completes the slate, with polling at Haven in New Lenox and other school sites.

Fred Guendling Succumbs After Long Illness
Funeral services were held for Fred W. Guendling Sr. 68 of Mokena after a lingering illness that ended March 14 at Silver Cross Hospital Joliet. He came to Mokena in 1945 and ran a poultry farm. Survivors include wife Helen nee Gora two daughters Jean and Christine ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Interment followed the 10:00 a.m. Mass at St Marys Church Mokena with Rev Cecil Koop officiating.

Lincoln-Way High School hires William Vogel as head football coach replacing Norman West who shifts athletic duties. Vogel, former St Joseph High School Cleveland assistant and head JV coach, has six years at St Joseph with 48 wins 6 losses 6 ties and coached players to Notre Dame. He earns strong letters from notable coaches and plans to move to the Lincoln Way area in June with teaching assignments in biology and physical education.
