A Republican candidates rally is set for Tuesday night March 24 at 8 in the Exhibition Hall at the Fred Francis 4-H fairgrounds in New Lenox. Sponsored by the Northern Frankfort Township Republican Men's Organization and the Mokena Women's Republican Club, invites go to all primary candidates. Guest speaker is Harry L. Page, director of public relations for the state school office and 34, a Springfield native and former district school superintendent. Public invited. ample parking and free refreshments.

A high school music festival brings an all conference honor band orchestra and chorus to Bremen High School for an 8 p.m. Friday March 20 performance. Students from Carl Sandburg Reavis Bremen Oak Lawn Evergreen Park Lincoln Way Rich East and Homewood join Flossmoor participants under noted conductors for a 150 piece band and 400 voice festival orchestra plus an 80 piece string orchestra directed by J Elmer Szepessy and others. The Mokena Chamber of Commerce spring dinner is set for Saturday night March 21 at Jardine's Tinley Park. Chairman Charles Swanberg expects attendance over 100 from advance ticket sales. County to Install Frankfort Police Radio Transmitter

Frankfort's Bobzing-Swinford post of the American Legion starts building a Veterans Memorial home at Nebraska and Locust streets. Groundbreaking occurred last Saturday afternoon with Mayor George Sangmeister and Post Commander Larry Vaughn officiating. The brick veneer, one story plus basement facility will measure 48 by 80 feet, housing a 36 by 48 meeting room, a 25 by 48 lounge, a 42 by 62 foot auditorium, kitchen, checkrooms, and a memorial hall for plaques.

Arnold F Batson 66 of New Lenox died March 11 after a long illness. An International Harvester engineer, he worked 34 years until retiring in 1952.
