Friendly Town program to host Chicago children in Mokena Frankfort area
Six urban youngsters aged seven to twelve will visit the Mokena Frankfort area for two weeks from July 27 to August 10. Host families include Albert Krusemark Sr Burton Breidert Ezra Marti and the Naumans. The program aims to broaden appreciation of diversity through shared living experiences and exposure to different backgrounds. Wayne H. Rouson has earned Army aviator wings and serves as a war rant officer after graduating from the Army Aviation School at Savannah Georgia.

The Will County Threshermen’s Association hosts the 6th annual Steam Engine Show at Francis 4-H Field New Lenox August 1 2 3 and 4 with daily 2 PM parades and steam powered threshing shelling plowing and more The event features horse plowing oxen gas engines and antique car exhibits plus refreshments by 4-H and a bake sale by the Ladies Hobby Fair Admission is 1 with under 12 free Ray Kestel of Manhattan leads the non profit group highlighting sesquicentennial displays and history preserving steam heritage
