Mokena Board of Education approved raising book rental to 11 50 per pupil for grades through eight for the 1968 69 year. Kindergarten fees stay at 8. Other charges include 4 gym, 35 cents daily meals, milk options, and bus rates. Payment encouraged in summer at Carpenter Street School district office before Aug 26 start.
Newly elected Educational Development Cooperative leaders assume duties this month. S.P. Monteith 194 holds the presidency on the executive board and senate, with Dr Richard E. Barnhart named president elect for 1969-70.
The Will County 4-H Fair at Francis 4-H Field New Lenox runs July 23 to 25 with George J. Young in charge. Dog horse and auto shows occur July 19 20 at Francis Field. Livestock poultry rabbit and many demonstrations are listed with events in beef dairy sheep and grand champion judging plus an auction and awards.
The Lincoln Way High School District tennis tournament begins Saturday July 20 at Mokena Park Courts and runs through August 4. Entry deadline is noon July 19 with in person or mail options to Edwin L. Sams. No entry fee. trophies funded by Mokena Park District.
The post office department will cut Saturday hours starting July 27 as part of broader economy measures. Saturday service will run two hours in the morning for handling general delivery and will call mail, with no stamps or money orders sold. Residential Saturday delivery is to cease.
