New Lenox Horse Show Benefits 4-H Groups
The New Lenox Riding club hosted a two day horse show at Francis Field June 24 25 with western and society divisions. Entries from Illinois and surrounding areas supported a fund for improvements at the 4 H Field while Will and South Cook County 4 H clubs plan fairs this month.

The Will County 4-H Fair at Francis Field in New Lenox Township runs July 25 26 and 27 with another South Cook County 4-H Fair July 22 23 and 24. Cattle sewing cakes pies breads and crafts drawn crowds with no admission charge and top livestock entrants may advance to the Illinois State Fair. Weather concerns loom after last year’s rain impacted events.

Vandals Wound Show Cattle At Willow Lane Farm
Two purebred Shorthorn yearling bulls were shot on Willow Lane Farm in Homer and Lemont townships. One bull died, the other was wounded but may recover. a carload of teens seen nearby is being sought by Will County deputies. Sherman Swanson owns the farm and a Chicago clothing chain. Jill Swanson, a Will County 4 H participant, has previously shown the cattle.
