Ground Breaks on Lincoln Way High School Addition
Ground was broken last week for a 750000 expansion to Lincoln Way high school with contracts awarded to Burnside Construction Joliet Poehner Dillman Joliet and Thomas Reed Son Joliet for electrical and plumbing work. The project aims to raise capacity to 1500 1550 by 1967 with a second high school site planned later.

Scouts Of Orland Park Spend Week In Camping
Twenty six of thirty eight members of Boy Scout Troop 318, Orland Park, spent a week at two camps. At Camp Betz in Michigan fourteen boys studied riflery archery swimming and boating and received advancement cards at a Friday Court of Honor. The other twelve campers with Scoutmaster Arthur Litwicki learned camping and scouting at Kankakee State Park with hikes camp cookery nature study and crafts.

Free Chest X-Ray Mobile Unit Plans Visit to Orland Park
A one day survey on Wednesday July 10 will allow free chest X-rays at the IGA Food Store on 143rd and LaGrange Road from 1 to 8 p.m. The Orland Park Junior Women’s Club will sponsor with local volunteers named.

Area Residents Return From Reserve Training
Three residents from Mokena Frankfort and Orland Park were on active duty with the 259th Ordnance Co. U S Army Reserve at Ft Leonard Wood Missouri for two weeks. Lt Stanley G Fritz Cpl Robert M Zitkus and PFC Russell F Beckman trained in jobs they would perform in national emergencies. The Joliet unit departed June 16 for training and returned to Joliet after completing the program under Capt Calvin Peters.

Across the nation on July Fourth bells from churches schools and universities rang for four minutes starting at 1 p.m. in a Ring the Bells For Freedom program. In Orland Park the Junior Woman's Club joined the event as Marley held a traditional picnic with oratory and Mokena hosted a parade pageant Fiesta Days fireworks and a Queen selection with the Orland Park American Legion posting fireworks.
