Fire hits old landmark injures father and son in New Lenox
A Sunday morning blaze at the historic two story U.S. 30 residence once a tavern and stage stop injured Donald Braasch 27 and his son Gary 2 in New Lenox. The house sustained about $10,000 in damage and was owned by Peter Radakovich of Joliet. The elder Braasch re entered to save Gary and both were treated and released from Silver Cross hospital. The fire chief cited a melted TV set and possible short circuit as causes.

Margie Olson a Lincoln Way high school junior has been selected by the local foreign exchange committee to represent her school abroad with Japan as the likely destination. The Lions International headquarters sponsors the program with Lions of Lincoln Way. Olson is active in Future Teachers Association and chairs American Education Week. She is also a Rhythm Knights member and French club treasurer, daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Olson of Mokena.

Burglar Causes $3000 Damage At Cook's Restaurant
Burglars broke into Cook's Restaurant on Wolf Road in Mokena early Tuesday causing about $3000 in damage. They entered by breaking the south glass door and smashed the juke box and cigaret machine while taking cash from pay machines. Police investigated fingerprints and noted bloodstains on site.
