Mokena Adopts Curfew and One Way Street Ordinances
The Mokena village board approved two ordinances designating Midland avenue as northbound only between Front and Third streets with west side parking ban and Second street as westbound only from Division to West Road with south side parking ban. A minors curfew prohibits anyone under 18 from being on streets or in public venues 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. unless escorted or permitted. Fines for minors range from 1 to 50 dollars, operators 1 to 200 dollars, with police records kept for curfew cases. one way violations carry 1 to 200 dollars.

Derailment At Mokena Ties Up RI Main Lines
Two cars of an eastbound Rock Island thru freight derailed east of Mokena depot on Sunday morning. Both main lines were closed for hours while wrecking crews worked. A piggyback car and a fresh meat car derailed. no injuries reported. Weather hampered repairs as wind blew west and temperatures near zero. Regular service resumed at 6 p.m.

Frankfort Plans Sunday Canvass for Cerebral Palsy Drive
Frankfort will host a door to door canvass Sunday January 20 to support the annual Cerebral Palsy fundraising drive. Ned Grabawoy drive chairman for Will County said a special team of student nurses from St Joseph hospital or students from the College of St Francis will operate in Frankfort after no local team collected last Sunday in the area. About 150 was raised in nearby Mokena last Sunday.
