Christmas Candy Delivery Hopes Rest On July Fourth
Frankfort officials apologized for no Christmas candy at the annual party as the shipment still had not arrived. A package mailed December 10 from Chicago was received by the post office, suggesting the candy may still be on the way. Correspondence shows it left the candy company’s shipping room December 7 by parcel post or a parcel delivery service.

Man Faces Jail Time After Assault on Officer in New Lenox
Harold George 26 of Rochelle received a hundred day jail sentence or $500 plus $15 court costs after striking Police Officer James Luther with a coke bottle at New Lenox. Funeral Held For Gladys Havens In New Lenox
Gladys Havens 41 of 1355 Spector Road New Lenox died January 6 at Silver Cross Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Fayetteville Arkansas and lived in Hermiston Oregon before moving to Joliet in 1947 and then to New Lenox in 1958. She is survived by husband Paul a EJ&E railroad employee a daughter Paulette three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held January 8 at Baskerville chapel New Lenox with Rev. Alfred H. Hunter. Interment Maplewood Cemetery.
