Corrected New Lenox property assessments released
Acting on State's Attorney Frank H. Masters advice, County Treasurer Roy C. Doerfler ordered publication of a corrected tax assessment list for New Lenox township. The corrected list fixes Dec. 4 errors, with 990 corrections in about 2,000 entries and a countywide valuation around 55 percent of market value outside New Lenox, Frankfort and Crete.

Revive Two Heart Victims at N Lenox Christmas Morning
Two heart attack victims were revived near New Lenox after police used an inhalator unit. Robert Schuey of Terre Haute visited his mother when ill, recovering enough to return home. George A. McCormick of East Chicago, with his wife, received aid after pulling into a station. he remained hospitalized for days.

Holiday Traffic Toll Rises With Five Killed In Illinois
Five people died and seven were injured across Illinois during the Christmas holiday traffic. Two Orland Park area crashes claimed three deaths and five injuries. A stop sign failure near New Lenox caused a two car crash, killing Velma Miller and later injuring Arley Brown. Other fatalities occurred at Orland Park and a Cedar Road and Manhattan Monee road intersection, involving John Lucas, Robert Baker, and Donald Harris.

Solemn high mass opens St. Jude's silver anniversary
The Very Rev. Pius Barth will celebrate a solemn high mass at 10 30 next Sunday January 4 to open the silver anniversary year of St. Jude's parish in New Lenox. Mass will be followed by a dinner for the clergy. The parish has grown from 100 to 1300 souls since 1934, with a parochial school now enrolling 225 students and a new church seating over 700 completed in 1958.
