John Vine Son announces a community recreation complex in New Lenox costing about 550000. The 11 acre site, owned by a VFW formed nonprofit, would include bowling lanes by Brunswick, a pool for 250, playground, skating rink, tennis, badminton and courts, as well as a restaurant and lounge. The Lions club would operate the ball diamond under a 20 year lease for one dollar, and the VFW post would lease and run the pool and facilities with 200 parking spots.

Sauerkraut Day Draws 2000 in Frankfort Festivities
Frankfort officers reported Sauerkraut Day attracted over 2,000 people to the business district. About 1,100 portions of sauerkraut and wieners were served, three barrels of kraut and more than 2,200 wieners eaten. Chamber president Ralph Shaw and a coordinated team praised the turnout. Merchants awarded 150 prizes worth around 1500 dollars. The Kiddy and Pet parade and a roaming German band drew crowds. Sightless Chicago guest Arno Kupsch attended with guide dog Lucky from the Leader Dog School in Rochester Michigan, demonstrating canine aids for the blind.
