Fire Damages Valley View Farm Restaurant Structure

A blaze at Valley View Farm restaurant on U.S. 30 east of Wolf Road started by lightning damaged the southeast bedroom and attic, with losses pegged at 10 000. Fire crews from Frankfort and Mokena quickly extinguished the flames. four residents escaped unharmed. Investigators noted no floor damage and that state fire marshal and police were notified.

Frankfort Airport Set to Open September 6

The Frankfort airport south of the village on Center road will have a formal opening on September 6 at 10 a.m. Owner John Arnold of Orland Park and manager H M Brown say the facility handles light aircraft with several on hand for the event. Lions Club will run a refreshment stand. Ten hangars provide storage with space for 50 more tie-down spots. Runway will be lighted and 80 to 100 octane gas available. An aircraft and engine mechanic will be on duty. Public invited.

Two Lincoln Way exchange students highlight a year of cross cultural exchange. Hi sako Iwamura from Japan resides with the Petrich family in Mokena while Margie Olson returns from a world journey via Rome Israel and New Delhi.
