Robert Hall Opens New Store In Orland Park

Robert Hall Clothes opens a new Orland Park store on Thursday August 15 on U S 45 near 143rd Street. Grand opening includes free gifts for families, hourly $50 certificates, and a first-1000 women corsage gift. Festivities run through August 18 as the chain expands to 400 stores nationwide.

Festival Parade to Highlight Frankfort 1890 Fall Celebration

Frankfort plans a multi day Fall Festival August 31 and September. Co chairmen William Knipple and Bruce Wells expect many horse drawn carriages with an added kiddies parade. Meister Brau six horse hitch will appear despite high transport costs. Ten parade divisions form on Mobil Chemical parking lot at start time. Activities include art show street booths, ball games, dances, German beer garden, Wiener and Sauerkraut day, and library open house with a 10 cent sale.

Early tax distribution from County Treasurer Lipman

Tax money collected since August 1 by County Treasurer Clarence Lipman was distributed to New Lenox and Frankfort townships. Deputy Schuetz said checks went out the week of distribution, marking an early current-collection disbursement to taxing bodies to provide funds and possibly avoid tax anticipation warrants.

Orland Lions Club Picnic Draws 1200 Attendees at Palos Preserve

The Orland Park Lions hosted an annual chic ken barbecue in Palos Forest Preserve drawing about 1200 attendees. Over 4000 ears of corn and 600 chickens were served along with other foods and beverages. Proceeds exceed expenses and total distributions exceed 1 075 000 dollars, with 97 632 80 going to local school districts and the rest to townships villages and districts.

Idea Saves Government Millions at APSA

Oswald M. Hagen of New Lenox received a 500 award, shared with Don Stewardson, for a suggestion that cut government costs by over 6 million dollars. Facing a 1966 67 boxcar shortage, the plan repurposed 40 ton foreign service cars bought in 1952 for overseas use into usable American railcars.

Hold Rites For Harry Aggen

Funeral services for Harry P. Aggen, 68, of 918 Pine St New Lenox were held Aug 9 at Hirsch Memorial Chapel Tinley Park. Interment was at Oak Hill in Chicago. He died Aug 6 after a lingering illness born Oct 15 1899 in Chicago and was a retired farmer and church and farm group member. Survived by wife Jennis two sons Harry P Jr of Blue Island LeRoy of California three daughters Ellen Mark Zena Sluiter Louella Homerding one sister Nettie Alsterda five brothers Alfred William John Jr Jacob George 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
