New Lenox approves sewer connection ordinance and inspector duties
The New Lenox Village board adopted an ordinance establishing sewer connection rules for the sanitary system. Milton Harnack will serve as inspector and assistant to building inspector Harry Brockway, with a $3 inspection fee. Connections require cast iron pipe with leaded joints near wells and nonrestricted portions may use vitrified or plastic tile. Stubs extend to property lines. owners pay for work and material on their property. Noncompliance carries penalties. the ordinance becomes effective in 10 days.

Death of Fred Cappel At 73 In Mokena
Fred Cappel a lifelong Mokena resident died of a heart attack at his home Sunday after suffering a prior attack Friday while work on the Walter Kopp farm west of town. Born September 25 1887 he farmed then ran Mokena Grain and Elevator later worked at Wyman Gordon in Harvey. He is survived by Luella his wife a daughter Helen Sippel two brothers two sisters and two grandchildren. Funeral services were set for 2 p.m. at St. John United Church of Christ Mokena with burial in St. John Cemetery.
