Fire tears through Oak Brook home of Valy family
In Oak Brook New Lenox township the Valy home burned for hours after midnight July 24. Sharon Valy 19 suffered severe burns while her father George Valy and four firefighters were treated for smoke and burn injuries. The house valued around 40000 dollars burned to a total loss with furnishings. The rescue involved entering through a hot window. The family eyed federal and state highway routing plans that may affect future housing. A neighbor carried Sharon to Silver Cross hospital Joliet for treatment.
