Grimes Rape Case Opens in Circuit Court Today
The trial of Parson T. Grimes, a colored man accused of raping a young girl, Juanita Barlow, began in Circuit Court with jurors seated and the defendant denying the charge. The docket also covers numerous civil cases and divorces in progress, with several proceedings continued or dismissed.

Mrs Laura Doran died last night at her brother Jesse Robertson's home in Burlington Junction after a brief illness. She was visiting relatives from St Louis. remains expected in Moberly tonight. Survived by husband W D Doran and two children. also daughter of Mrs Robertson of Rae Franklin street and sister of Bertha Robertson Jon Robertson Geo Robertson. Funeral from Robertson residence tomorrow.

Jacksonville businessman buys Blume property in Moberly
Hugh Powell of Jacksonville traveled to Moberly to find a home for his family and to access local schools. He purchased the Philip Blume property on West Reed street for 3400 dollars and plans to move his family to Moberly by October 1. Powell will keep his Jacksonville business and split time between cities. Mr Blume plans to relocate to a cottage within two weeks.

He came from Clearmont to relax and manage cattle affairs with the U Cross Cattle Company, then lost and won during the night. He left ahead by 1000 dollars when the game ended. Union members and delegates are urged to attend the Frades and Labor Assembly on Sept 23. Mrs. Thomas Jones and daughter Catherine of Stanberry are visiting Moberly relatives.
