On December 1 1897 Rev S A Donahoe pastor of M E church South Pt Pleasant West Virginia contracted a severe cold with violent coughing. After trying many anecdotal remedies he purchased Chamberlains Cough Remedy which acted like a charm and was strongly recommended for public use by local druggists John F Curry Ed ft McCanne and Burks.
