Former Moberly boy weds in Chicago
Mr and Mrs A E Carter received an announcement card revealing the marriage of Charlie Felton and Miss Helen Mabel Woodruff. The ceremony took place last Saturday in Chicago. Charlie, once a Moberly resident and now a government employee in Washington, D.C., is remembered fondly by old schoolmates.

England's Railway Strike Now Ended
London reports that British railway workers returned to posts after a government and strike settlement, with wages frozen until September 20 1920. Parcel post trucks to cut living costs in cities

Spirit of Samuel White Dies at 72 in Madison Area
Monroe County resident Samuel White died last evening at 8 40 pm. He was 72, survived by his wife, five sons and five daughters, five brothers, one sister, sixteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild. A Dunkard, he lived upright and Godly, funeral tomorrow at the family residence two miles north of Madison, with Rev. Roger officiating. Burial in Madison. The mother Mary White died May 19 at 103.

A Beautiful Wedding This Ideal Afternoon
The marriage of Ray Lamke and Miss Ruth Jennings was solemnized this afternoon at 2 30 oclock with a ceremony described in detail, in the presence of families and guests. The bride wore ivory Duchess satin with pearls, the bridesmaids wore white and pink gowns, a ring bearer accompanied them, and Rev. W T Henson officiated. A buffet luncheon followed as green and white decorations graced the dining room and gifts included fine cut glass and silver. Out of town guests and the couple’s plans for an Atlanta auto wedding trip were noted.

Two Negroes Lynched and Burned at Stake in Georgia
In Washington Georgia on October 6 two Black men Jack Gordon and Will Brown were taken from Lincoln county jail and lynched by a mob. Gordon was claimed to have killed deputy Red Freeman during a concealed weapons arrest. Burned bodies reported. Mob Baying Lynch Demand After Black Man Attacks Deputy
In Washington Georgia October 6 a Black man struck a deputy sheriff fatally injuring him and injuring a bystander. A mob hunted for Jack Gordon, captured another Black man, whipped two more, and held five others as lynching threats spread through Lincoln County. Crowds near the courthouse numbered over two thousand demanding Gordon be turned over for lynching.
Balloon pilot safe after long flight in Canadian mountains
St Louis captain Exmestiz Cole, pilot of the balloon St Louis, reports landing thirty two miles northeast of L Anabel, Ontario, after a 900 mile route from St Louis toward the national open championship. Another flyer, Ralph Upson of Akron, traveled a shorter distance. In Washington, the Supreme Court was urged to decide the intoxicating limit for beer under wartime prohibition, with the government arguing for beer at or above one half of one percent. In Paris, Colonel E Me House said the League of Nations council would meet about two weeks after ratification of the peace treaty.
