W J Chambliss of the secretary of state's office and local artist says a small black hen trained with high bred fowl has laid two eggs daily for several weeks. He kept the fact secret to avoid ridicule but will stand by the claim amid rising egg prices.
The Loretto Academy sits on the city’s east side with large ventilated rooms and an excellent education for pupils. It notes the academy’s beginnings in 1877 during Moberly’s infancy when only one public school existed.
The Sisters of Loretto expand their academy on Amit and Farrar streets from a six room frame residence and three room school to a ten room brick building in 1886, a fire in 1893 leads to a north wing addition, creating a 36 room boarding and day school with a boys’ school across the street and various modern classes.
Five month old John Whiteford Keeley, son of Mr and Mrs R F Keeley, died this afternoon at their West Rollins Street residence. He had been ill only a few days and his condition worsened this morning. Funeral arrangements have not been made.
An entertainment program at Wey High School Assembly Hall features Opal Webb and students performing a Child's Thanksgiving readings, piano solos, duets, vocal solos, and a musical tea party. Participants include Vera Stevens, Lottie Toos le, Trene Ma son, Eva Burnham, Pearl Wheeler, Emma Hestler, Anna Lewis Lee, Irk and Harold McJiltan, Luther Spindler, and Alva Shierfelder with groups from rooms 3 4 5 6. Proceeds support the Central School piano fund.
Eugene Brockman received a five year penitentiary term in the Weytasville circuit court after a Salisbury store robbery. Captured in Kansas City Sunday evening, Brockman, once a Salisbury academy professor, now faces a harsh downfall and public scorn as he heads to Jeff City in striped attire.
A heated letter declares Charlies W. Bates St Louis city councillor a human fiend and defends Joseph W Folk against graft accusations over salary. Another note reports George Hallibuttom’s Roswell trip with wildlife, housing costs, and Missouri pride. Thanksgiving football plans in Kansas City include several locals.
Multiple obituaries report deaths in the Mob erly and Sugar Creek areas. Miirrs-Ora Belle Myers, 12, died Saturday night at the family home seven miles east of Mob erly. Ellen Tinntorr, 49, died at 508 Moulton Street after tuberculosis. Mildred McClancy, 65, died near the Hagle coal mine. funeral set for tomorrow at Sugar Creek.
Randolph County bar members met at the Cir cuit Clerk Lilly's office at 10 am to draft resolutions of respect for the late Judge Jno A Hockaday. Judge A P Terrill was elected chairman with F G Ferris as secretary. A committee including Terrill Waller Cave Wight Hammett Kim brough Lilly was formed to prepare resolutions and send copies to families and newspapers. The bar plans to attend a district meeting later. Also noted is a divorce petition by Mrs J W Aldrich alleging cruelty and intoxication by her plasterer husband Aldrich after a recent assault. local happenings include Miss Jessie Shivarer visiting her parents.
Real estate notices offer a house and two lots on West Rollins Street from 1100 to 2700 dollars, plus a house and lot on West Reed Street at 2700. Also a bargain two story dwelling with front on a paved street and shop space, managed by Gro W Sparks and Mrs G O Waller, who has returned from Carrollton.
The Taka Art Club held a bright autumn meeting with all but one member present due to sickness. Misses Ruby and fie Dossey hosted and parlor games followed by a light luncheon. Miss Nelle Collet hosts next. Patton Eddings spent yesterday in Columbia with friends.
