Dexter Mob Lifts Prisoner In 100-Strong Raid
Wm Intl wrested from the county jail at Dexter Missouri by a mob of about one hundred men armed with Winchesters. They treed the prisoner a mile from town after he faced the mob with nerve. The man, Andrew Morton, allegedly owed money to Melton, a wealthy farmer who was shot later in the dispute.

Judge Colt Rules Rail Road Pass Does Not Owe Damages
In Boston a United States circuit court judge ruled that a railroad employee injured while riding on a pass provided by the company cannot recover damages even if partly paid for service. The case involved GC Ay Whitnay and Kagengoman versus the New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad. The decision states the pass contract exempted liability for injuries, so no recovery is allowed.
